Art, Technology & Music
Where Learning Leaps Off the Page and Into the World
At Laurel Hill School, the classroom is only the beginning. Our Primary School enrichment programs empower students to explore their passions, express themselves creatively, and stretch their minds and bodies in new ways. Whether coding a robot, painting with purpose, or leaping across the gym floor, students are given the tools and the space to thrive—intellectually, socially, and imaginatively.
Technology & Digital Literacy
Building Confidence Through Curiosity and Code
Technology at Laurel Hill isn’t a subject—it’s a tool for discovery. Starting in Kindergarten, students visit our computer lab to learn foundational digital skills through age-appropriate programs in typing, research, multimedia creation, and basic coding.
Computer Literacy: Students learn how to use productivity software, conduct meaningful online research, and present information with clarity and creativity.
Internet Safety: Lessons include digital citizenship, online responsibility, and ethical use of information.
Tech-Integrated Classrooms: Every classroom is equipped with computers and Internet access to support cross-curricular learning.
🧠 Library & Research
Our sunny, sky-lit library is a hub of inquiry and inspiration. Students develop research and reference skills through librarian-guided projects and enjoy access to a broad collection of books that connect to classroom themes. Lending privileges foster independent reading and joyful exploration.
Robotics & Coding
Design, Build, Code, Play
From the earliest grades, Laurel Hill students are introduced to the exciting world of robotics through a developmentally rich program that grows in complexity as they do.
Kindergarten–2nd Grade: Students build simple robots, program them using bar code-style commands, and explore basic sensors to respond to light, sound, and motion. Collaboration and creativity are key—students clothe their robots, give them personalities, and set them to music!
Grades 3–5: Students take their skills further with motors, gears, axles, and block-based coding. Through STEM challenges and guided experimentation, they begin to integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—laying the foundation for future innovation.
Visual Arts
Expression in Every Brushstroke
Art at Laurel Hill celebrates imagination, reflection, and technique. Children use art as a lens to interpret the world around them and as a language to express the world within.
Students work with a wide range of media—from watercolors and charcoal to clay and collage.
They study art history and masterworks, learning to apply formal techniques while developing a personal artistic voice.
Every hallway becomes a gallery, with student artwork displayed as a celebration of thought, spirit, and skill.
Music & Performing Arts
Harmony, Creativity, and the Confidence to Perform
From the joyful jingle of Angklung bells to the powerful harmonies of our chorus, music is a daily part of life at Laurel Hill.
Primary Music Literacy: Students learn rhythm, pitch, and notation through engaging lessons and global instruments.
Recorder Band begins in 3rd grade, leading to Band options in 4th and 5th grade. Instrument instruction includes trumpet, flute, clarinet, saxophone, percussion, and more.
Suzuki Violin is available as early as preschool, blending ear training and ensemble skills.
Chorus and Choral Recitals celebrate vocal performance, community, and musical storytelling.
Musical Theatre: Each class stages a Broadway-style production in spring, combining acting, singing, and choreography in an unforgettable celebration of student talent and teamwork.
After-school Drama Club provides an outlet for deeper dramatic expression.
