Enrichment Programs

At Laurel Hill School, education extends far beyond textbooks. Our enrichment programs are designed to ignite passion, deepen curiosity, and empower students to discover their talents and express their creativity. Through hands-on learning and expert instruction, students explore the intersections of technology, the arts, and athletics—gaining skills that prepare them not just for the classroom, but for life.

Technology

Computer Literacy & Digital Tools

Our technology curriculum begins with digital fluency and grows into real-world applications. In the computer lab, students learn to confidently navigate application suites, conduct research, and utilize the Internet for both academic and recreational pursuits. Every classroom at Laurel Hill is computer-equipped, networked, and Internet-enabled—ensuring seamless integration of technology into daily learning.

Imagining in HTML

Students dive into the foundational language of the web—HyperText Markup Language (HTML)—to build fully customized websites from the ground up. They develop themes, conduct research, and code original pages without shortcuts or templates. The result? Elegant, functional, and entirely student-built websites that showcase both creativity and technical skill.

Coding

In our coding program, students explore programming and robotics through the engineering design process. They build, test, and refine their ideas by manipulating blocks of graphical code, fostering logic and collaboration. Whether programming a robot to perform a task or designing a game that plays just right, students learn that code is power—and creativity is its fuel.

Robotics

Robotics at Laurel Hill is a hands-on journey into engineering and innovation. Students build increasingly sophisticated STEM bots using upgraded motors, sensors, and computer-based programming. The challenge? Design machines that solve real problems. The reward? Mastery, excitement, and the thrill of seeing their creations come to life.

Visual & Performing Arts

Visual Arts

Art at Laurel Hill is more than an elective—it’s a means of self-discovery and expression. Our students use the visual arts to explore their thoughts, emotions, values, and ideas about the world around them. They learn formal techniques, study historical art movements, and engage with professional works through partnerships with major New York City museums.

Walk the halls of Laurel Hill, and you’re immersed in a gallery of creativity—each piece a reflection of our students’ imagination and insight.

Music & Musical Theatre

The Laurel Hill music program builds from the basics—music literacy, rhythm, voice, and listening—to advanced composition and performance. Using computers, software, and digital tools, students compose original music that reflects their personal style and ingenuity.

Students may choose to:

  • Join the Laurel Hill Band, with instruction available in trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, flute, drums, and more.

  • Sing in the Senior Chorus, with performances that are celebrated community events.

  • Take the stage in our annual Broadway-style spring musical, with each class performing a full production.

  • Join the Drama Club for extended acting opportunities after school.

Music and theatre at Laurel Hill cultivate confidence, stage presence, and a love of performance that carries into every aspect of student life.
