Computer Literacy and Technology
Computer literacy at Laurel Hill
aims to make the computer a familiar, friendly source of information-gathering
and applied solutions. Students attend computer lab to learn about
application suites, and to benefit from efficient use of the Internet
for research and recreation. Multi-media projects, web design workshops,
and more complement the many experiences available in the lab. Every
classroom is computer equipped, networked, and Internet enabled.
Physical Education
Physical Education at Laurel Hill is a total sports, fitness and
health program. Every student is encouraged to participate and fun,
friendship, and cooperation are emphasized. Competition is adjusted
to a healthful level and sportsmanship is a top priority. |

Excellent outdoor and indoor facilities including baseball and
soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, gymnastic fitness circuits,
a running track, gymnasium, archery range, batting cage and a deck
hockey rink facilitate a complete athletic experience. After-school
intramural and club activities build the athletic skills of Laurel
Hill boys and girls.
Music & MUSICAL THEATRE
The Laurel Hill music program incorporates the basics of music
literacy, singing and listening skills. Pre-instrumental training
in the early grades utilizes instruments as diverse as Baroque Recorders
and the Indonesian Angklung. |
 |
| Students may also bring their musical
interests to life by learning a band instrument, or singing in the
chorus. Students with at least one year of instrumental experience
also have the opportunity to join our Jazz Ensemble.
In the springtime, music joins drama as each class produces and
performs a fully staged musical theatre production. Interest in
the dramatic arts may be enhanced by joining our after school Drama
Club.
The Visual Arts
Art at Laurel Hill engages the innate creativity of young people
to explore and enhance communication skills and to build confidence
and self-esteem. The program also provides formal techniques and
methods to enable students to express themselves in the style of
the masters, and in their own unique way. Plus, it offers a fascinating
window into art history.
The Library
Our sky-lit, sunny library provides ample literature and research
resources that correlate to major school themes. Students develop
library and research skills through librarian-guided projects, incorporating
current reference technologies. Students are encouraged to loan
out library books for pleasure reading.
