Grammar: Parts of Speech, Gender, Number Declensions and Cases, Agreement of Adjectives, Conjugation of Verbs, Interrogatives, Prepositions

Activities in Latin: Oral Reading in Latin, Oral Translation (into English), Oral Questions and Answers, Oral Dialogs, Skits Games, Crossword, Puzzles, Writing Exercises, Quizzes, Tests

Language Skills: Students will develop some proficiency in the four basic language skills---listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Culture
: History, Geography, The Roman Army Art and Architecture, Family Life, Dress, Education, Entertainment

Materials
: Textbooks: Latin Is Fun and Ecce Romani, Videos, Pictures, Flashcards

N.B. In Ecce Romani there are reading passages which offer students the opportunity to learn more vocabulary in a cultural context. They will also learn how the Latin language works through grammatical explanations and exercises.

Throughout the year students will learn Latin expressions which are used frequently in English. Some examples: carpe diem, non sequitur, excelsior, cum grano salis, per diem, quid pro quo, modus operandi, nota bene, in loco parentis, ad infinitum, habeas corpus, et cetera.

 

7th GRADE
